FAQs

The Digiread system develops the complete content of the print edition in virtual form, offering readers an experience of reading it on screen instead of on paper. This allows copies of a publication distributed in this way to qualify as part of a magazine’s audited circulation.
Digiread provides a complete solution that reaches out to your readers, customers, and prospects via managed e-mail delivery. It is quickly accessible and it’s as easy as using a Web browser.

- Will readers be expected to pay for access?
As the publisher, this is entirely up to you. You may wish to allow your readers free access to all parts of the online publication, or you may require them to pre-pay before accessing anything. Naturally, there’s also a whole range of options between these extremes, which we’ll be happy to discuss with you.
- How much will it all cost?
As you’d expect, costs will depend on the nature of your specific requirement. That said, our prices - which can be quoted per page or per publication depending on the number and frequency of your editions - are always extremely competitive. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
- How will readers access my digital editions?
As the publisher, it’s entirely up to you. You can choose whether to put a direct link on your website, or to feature a link in the ‘members only’ part of your website. (These links will automatically go to the latest edition, so there’s no need to update them.)
You can also send the link out via email. A great advantage of this is that the email does not contain anything that spam control software may mistake as spam.
You can burn all DigiRead files onto a CD to send out. An internet connection is not needed to view DigiRead on a CD. |
- How do I publish my digital editions?
You will upload single page PDFs to our server using FTP.
Once your pages have been processed a link of the publication is sent to you by email.
- What do I need to name the PDFs?
You should try to name your PDFs as follows: 001.pdf, 002.pdf, 003.pdf, 004.pdf, 005.pdf, 006.pdf, 007.pdf, 008.pdf, 009.pdf, 010.pdf. This will then make sure your pages are in the correct order when processed.
You need to upload individual page PDFs. However you can also upload one multipage PDF asDigiRead will split them out for you.
The higher the resolution of the PDFs the better the quality of the end result.
You can put internal and external links in all publications and editions.
There are a number of link styles to choose from to let the reader know a link is present. |
- What about reading a DigiRead publication offline?
This is up to the publisher. You can choose to allow extracts to be created in PDF format and stored locally for offline reading.
Another option is to create a CD for physical distribution as mentioned earlier.
- Can I host the DigiRead publication myself?
Yes. |
- What does a publisher require?
As a hosted solution all you need is an internet connection and a browser.
DigiRead can run on all PC and Macintosh browsers. |
- What does a reader require?
All a reader needs is internet access and a browser.
DigiRead also requires a minimum of Flash 8 however most browsers today have this installed. If a reader does not have Flash 8 installed then DigiRead will prompt the user to install it and will provide links for this.
